First of Finland,
There's so many reasons for me not to like Padova and not want to live there. I know that. As well as I know that even if I want to stay in Finland for the old days, I also know that I don't want those days to start just yet.
In the morning I went out for few last things to do anymore. I saw Piero. He doesn't know any english, so it's only italian with him. It's not always so easy, but I'm surprised of my confidence in speaking now. I can actually make jokes and have a conversation. Usually I miss some words and depending on the person the conversation is VAIHTELEVASTI successful. However, I realize that after starting to hang-out more with finnish people my italian has improved. I don't talk so much english and I don't have to focus so much on changing from language to language. Or maybe that has nothing to do with hanging out with finnish people. Maybe it's a change in me. I hope so.
I even enjoy talking italian. It doesn't feel like work anymore.
The last hours at home, I had nothing to do anymore, but I didn't dare to leave the house before actually leaving for the bus station. I did nothing. I couldn't sit in front of the computer but I didn't have anything else to do either... so I just wandered around thinking if I should eat something or pack some more or leave already or... I leave home very early to first catch the tram and then the bus at the station. At the bus station a nun asks me if a bus is a bus to Venezia. She starts to ask where I'm going with such big luggage. She talks slow if I don't understand. When the bus comes I touch her hand to make her aware of it. When she leaves the bus, she touches mine and waves. "Buon viaggio cara!"
On the way to the airport I see a lot of things. There is bright red flowers on the side of the road. A family of ducks going to a river. A HAIKARA. Signs.. I see all signs. Were they all there before, but I was too tired, too sad, too.. something to realize it.
I get to the airport I'm one hour early for the check-in. It goes fast. I read some more of The Alchemist and listen to my mp3-player. I watch at the screen telling me which check-in. There's a storm inside me. I can figure out all the possible reasons why not leave Italy and not go to Finland. And vice versa. I cannot figure out what I want. I think of Mario who just came from Singapore where he found not just love but also a place he wants to go with one way ticket. He fell in love with Singapore like he did with Finland.
Standing in line with all finnish speaking people, I realize how much I dislike it. I even catch myself thinking that I will never take Finnair again because there is nothing but around me. I dislike their need to get everything done right at the very second (no ability to wait). I dislike their way of looking. I think there's only one young girl and a really old guy that look worth getting to know to. Just for a while I like about the world except for my home country.
I have so many reasons to dislike Italy. None of them have anything to do with the country itself. All of them are about my experience here. Why go, why stay. When to go and when to stay? I have no idea.
I just know that I'm (fucking) excited to see my family, grandparents and friends again.. but the excitment does not include the country itself.
There is something that I absolutely adore in leaving. Unknown.

After I walked through the gates of the airport. Coming from the no-mans-land I felt so out of place. I was happy to be there, but it was strange to understand what the women behind the desk selling sandwichs'said to each other.
Later on I did so much that I didn't usually do when I was in Finland. I talked to an unknown woman on the busstop and she seemed to be happy to be talked to. I walked around in the shops... and finally in the bookstore where I could understand most of the books. In the beginning I even found italians from the food hall of Turku. There is a small italian restaurant where two men were talking italian. I stop, look back...
"you talk italian"
"yes we do"
"how nice"
"sit here and have lunch with us"
"no, i can't now"
The first days I was completely out of place. I wanted back to Italy so bad and I seeked signs to tell me that I belong there. I should be there, but everytime I only found a certain peace of mind that I have when walking these streets. It's a feeling I have for myself when I am here. I like myself here and I'm me in here. I don't think the people who know me in Italy, know the me that people here know and who I know.. or the me I want to be for everyone and in everywhere.

Kotoisasti,
Tänä aamuna ostin VR:n luukulla lippua kotiin. "Yksi opiskelija seuraavalla Turkuun." Katselin netistä asuntoja joihin voisin muuttaa, makasin kotona valkoisella sohvalla oranssin peiton alla parvekkeen oven ollessa auki ja äidin tehdessä ruokaa keittiössä, tv:n olevan rauhoittavasti auki taustalla. Kevät ilmaa. Kävin entisen kämppiksen luona, omassa entisessä kämpässä teellä. Kuljin Kampin ohi Mannerheimin tielle, postin ohi rautatieasemalle. Puin päälle lempihameeni. Tulin Hietsusta. Junassa kuuntelin Jussin mp3-soittimelleni laittamia biisejä ja tiesin maisemista koska jäädä pois. Sisäinen kelloni kertoi silmä sulkiessakin koska olisi aika astua ulos. Kävelin kouluun tytön ohi, jolla oli kirkkaanpunaiset korkkarit. Hän hymyili... kerran. Koulussa istuin ruokalassa.
Korppoo on sellainen. Meri on sellainen. Karu luontokin on sellainen.

Huomasin kaks juttua erityisesti.
Juttu 1.
(Laura)

Yesterday I went to an internet cafe to call home via skype. Jussi played me guitar :) I wish I could've made a screenshot of it. So moving<3 We're gonna start doing that because talking on skype is cheaper even if I pay in the netcafe for using it.
I talked to mom about me not having anything to do here and she suggested me to start doing something that I can use when I come back to Finland. So.. it may be a really ambitious but I've always wanted to set up a gallery of my photos. We'll see if I ever do that but here I have so much time for it that... why not try? I can also do it another way around. Try to offer pictures of Finland (possibly) to a gallery here. That would be even more perfect.. but still very ambitious. My sense for ambitious seems to be that it's a bit impossible to do, but not quite.
Yesterday at the choir, I talked again to a finnish girl, Maria. She's from Jyväskylä and is also here doing only single courses. So both of us have a lot of time and so.. we've also been talking about arranging a finnish dinner :) It was suppose to take place this Friday but everyone has something, including me. An appointment with the hairdresser.
Hanna met a guy in her language course who is a hairdresser and also cut her hair. So she arranged an appointment for me too. I want something new.. we'll see how radically new, I doubt that not much. At least according to Hanna, he has a talent, so I'm thinking of letting him decide what makes me looks good :)
I also met a Belgium girl, Ann, in the train while coming back from Baccarata, which is a kind of a pub tour in Venezia. She's here because of her boyfriend, who is sicilian. They met while she was in exchange in Bologna :) She's here now trying to find a job, but it's more difficult that you'd think, so she also has a lot of time in her hands. Number exchange done! In Baccarata I also met some American girls, Sarah and Charlotte. I don't generally have such a good image of Americans but they ended up being nice :) Still sometimes it gets me when they talk with the like-language. "I mean like.." And even more it gets me that I start to do the same :D In any case, Baccarata was great. Judith talked more than usual. Benjamin made some confessions. I got my jacket and new tennis shoes in red wine. All together the event was really great. I got to know more people and got a lot for only 10 euros. I mean, you should've seen the canisters of red wine, white wine and spritz that was involved. And we also got pizza :P
And yes, I'm making some kind of a facegallery here of all the people, so you can keep up with them.
Yesterday I met Simona because she had something bothering her a lot. No wonder really. I hope everything goes well on that. Why I'm telling this is because I was a bit surprised on the amount of honesty and trust I got from her. We don't spend so much time together, but I know that if there's something she will listen to me and help me :) Che bella!
Many people who know a bit of finnish here know a sentence in finnish "look at the sea" which in finnish is "katso merta" which sounds like in italian "catzo merda". Catzo means penis exactly, but goes for almost all the bad words. Like in english fuck or shit. Merda is shit. So in finnish the lovely poetic sentence turns into something ugly in italian. :D
Okay, but I'll try to get myself together and write a complete argument towards the bad sides of Italy and italians soon, so I can get over it. Now I'm just kind of collecting them into me.
OH! And I found such cheap flights from Treviso to Rome in the end of November that I'm probably going there with Hanna :) YIPPEE! Only 20 euros for both way flights!

At the airport,
23.9.2007 klo 8:32
in english

Olo on ilman itkujakin jo aika kamala.
Kaunis ulkomaalainen nainen.

Suomi on kaunis alkavana syksynä - ylhäältä. Kaunis metsä.
Lentokoneessa, mun vieressä istuu mies, joka näyttää aivan ruokapalkalla elävältä muusikolta. Sillä on lierihattu, jota se pitää vähän takaraivolla. Hiukan ylikasvanut tukka. Erään naisen laittaessa laukkua ylähyllylle hän varoitti olemasta liian kovakourainen: "there's an instrument in a soft bag."
Hetkeä ennen laskeutumista lennettiin kahden pilvikerroksen välissä. Kauempana oli aukko, josta valo heijastui alempaan kerrokseen. Se näytti aivan omalta maailmaltaan.
Köpiksen kentällä kiertelin kauppoja, lähettelin viestejä ja yritin saada kentän sisäistä langatonta toimimaan (tuloksetta).

Nàytàn hyvàltà (lue: kipeeltà) Kòpiksen kentàllà.
Me looking great (read: sick) at the Copenhagen airport.
More pictures of this later.)
Pyysin peittoa, koska penkkirivit olivat niin tyhjià, ettà pystyi nukkumaan vaaka-asennossa.
I asked for a blanket, because there was enough room to sleep vertically.

15-20 minutes before landing - The Alps.

(All the pictures are in the finnish entry.)
I'm totally stuck. My neck muscles are stuck and nose is running like a flood all the time or it's totally stuffed. I can feel a pressure in my head. I'm feeling awful without all the crying already. Before security check we went for breakfast and I took few painkillers, so the flight wouldn't go over my tolerance. In the end the luggage was only 14 kilos overweight (together) and the nice woman behind the desk didn't notice many of them. Only 5, I had to pay for. When I hugged mom, I wasn't really realizing yet that I was actually leaving. To those who stay here... for them, I'm leaving now. For myself I don't leave, I have left when I'm there. I have left when I sit down to my own room's bed and sigh deeply for the first time. It feels so cold not to cry when I was leaving.
Funny thing is that now I sit in the Helsinki-Vantaa airport on gate 24, which has always been a trouble in work. The ground control is right above it and that is also why the phone line don't hear there very well. In front of me sits a woman, who is totally in another world. She waits and thinks. Beautiful foreign woman. She would like to be away from here and the great amount of children in the flight, doesn't seem to please her more than me. Behind her walks around a thin woman with a little baby in her lap. She talks to a three-year-old. All the people look pale in the morningsun. Even the pitch-black man, who smiled beautifully when I sat in front of him.
My head aches.
I don't have anything else but time. Time to worry, be sick and sit. The only thing left to worry is poor Anna, who needs to carry a very heavy bags and the flight to Venice, which I hopefully will catch in Copenhagen. The plane is probably a bit late, because it hasn't come to the gate yet. They told me in check-in that I should be at the gate at 9. It's 15 minutes past. (Heh, cleaning takes at least 10 minutes and the plane should be ready 15 minutes before the people get in. -> Knowledge increases pain. Yepyep.)
When standing under the glass bridge, watching the people and talking to them on the phone, I thought of how happy I am. Not everyone have something to come back to. And not everyone have been taught to be an optimist.
... Now I can get into the plane. <3 (Later.) Above the gate there is a screen, which said calling to the gate in finnish, swedish and english. Straightly translated to english from swedish it mean something like to the outgoing. A thought of stepping to the plane is both out and in-going is fascinating, but also very desperate. I walked along the gate for the millionth time and it smelled like work. I looked from the round windows like always. Didn't see any Sodexho cars. I wanted to take one more photo of Helsinki-Vantaa when the plane was leaving, but a bit up-tight flight attendant told me to shut it down. The plane started to go towards the speeding way. Blue1's captain welcomed. I didn't take my eyes off of the airport before it was physically impossible. In the end of the speeding way the captain told the crew to go sit down, when KLM was first leaving. When the first sounds of speeding came out from the motors I felt a lump in my throat, before flying like shot the lump came to the back of my throat and exploded like a happy sparkle. On the outside it came out are calm tears. Big and watery. Finland is beautiful during the starting autumn - above. Beautiful forest. In the plane, beside me was sitting a man who looked like a musician working for food payment. He had a big hat, which he kept on the back of his head. Slightly over-grown hair. When a woman was putting her bag to the shelf, he told her to be careful: "there's an instrument in a soft bag." A moment before landing we flew between two layers of clouds. A bit further I could see a light reflecting to the lower layer. It looked like its own world. In the airport of Copenhagen I went through the shops, sent messages and tried to get the wireless net to work (it didn't). I was searching for the right gate - well not searching, but walking to find it a long time. When I found it, I remembered that mom had given me a small package right before security check. I wondered if I should open it in my new room, but that moment was very short and the option quickly forgotten. Because the headache and stuckness of the neck had gone better, the tears came out much more easily. The book is without doubt the most beautiful I have ever got!

Kaunis ulkomaalainen nainen.
Suomi on kaunis alkavana syksynä - ylhäältä. Kaunis metsä.
Lentokoneessa, mun vieressä istuu mies, joka näyttää aivan ruokapalkalla elävältä muusikolta. Sillä on lierihattu, jota se pitää vähän takaraivolla. Hiukan ylikasvanut tukka. Erään naisen laittaessa laukkua ylähyllylle hän varoitti olemasta liian kovakourainen: "there's an instrument in a soft bag."

I'm writing this offline. Yesterday, after sauna, I sat on the computer paying the course payment for the Uni of Padova, printing certificates and copying passport... and browsing through facebook. I realized how tired I was/am. I haven't really got a chance or I just haven't relaxed during the whole week which I have been home. I've packed all the times when I haven't been with someone, eaten, slept or taking care of general stuff. Mom has been very quiet. Today and yesterday I noticed to be very strained and I was snapping at dad, who was asking very good questions. Head aches and I'm not hungry at all. I don't have the energy to talk any more than I have to.. especially saying something twice.
Yesterday we went to the sauna at my grandma's. Today my whole family went to my dad's parent's house before driving to Vantaa. Before that I had packed everything to a 60 litre backpack (mainly clothes) and 70 litre suitcase. I slept for about half an hour on Jussi's back after drinking some juice and eating biscuits, when he was watching the tv.
Now we are at Vantaa. We're gonna sleep here at my empty place for the night. There is no furniture. Beside the window there is one pumpable mattress for two and beside the other wall my guest mattress. Suvi and Laura are coming soon to stop by.

One more moment.
Puuh x 2.
Kävin eilen saunassa mamman luona ja olen kai tulossa kipeeksi. Great!

Busy busy busy,
Suomeksi
Time goes by so - too - quickly. First I thought I don't have anything to do for this week, but suddenly it's already Tuesday evening and I haven't even thought of packing yet. Laura is visiting right now. Tomorrow I'm gonna meet Antonella and I'll have to buy the rest of the things to take to my roomies and so on. Get my medication :P I'll meet Katri in the evening to see Shrek 3.
Pheww.. and I'll have to start packing to get everything shorted out. I have so much stuff to take with me that I'll have to take about half of it away, so I thought I'd pack for some days to get everything possible in and everything possible out.
Jussi sings and plays guitar in his room. I'll miss that... so much.
---
Aika menee kauhian - liian - nopeesti. Ekana ajattelin ettei tälle viikolle olis enää hirveesti tekemistä, mut yhtäkkiä on tiistai-ilta, enkä ole pakannut vielä yhtään. Laura on täällä käymässä.

16 days in Finland, 9 days at Vantaa.
Everything is happening so/too quickly. I hate the fact that I have to leave these people behind to get something new. Especially, I hate the thought of the situation at the airport. And not seeing my family in several months.
I cannot go home to calm down when I feel like breaking down.
But you can't have all, right?
I cannot go home to calm down when I feel like breaking down.
But you can't have all, right?
So let go, jump in
Oh now, what cha waiting for
It's alright cause there's beauty in the breakdown
So let go, just get in
Oh, it's so amazing here
It's alright cause there's beauty in the breakdown
Frou Frou - Let Go

Spring of decisions and friends,
It's dark and rainy outside. I'm at home in Raisio and it's 1:35AM.
I have been going through my picture archives because mom and I are developing pictures. I got 146 pictures that I want to develop and I should count them down to 50. That's going to be a hard job. However I caught very few lovely pictures of people that made a lifelong impact on me, even if we never see each other again.
Thank you for making my spring complete and directing me to this decision with those many talks, advices and moments. You're all priceless!
Olette korvaamattomia!
