I mean, I always feel like a freak because
I'm never able to move on like (snaps her fingers together)
this, you know.
People just have an affair,
or even... entire relationships.
They break up and they forget!
They move on
like they would have changed a brand of Cereals!
I feel I was never able to forget anyone I've been with
because each person have... you know, specific qualities.
You can never replace anyone.
What is lost is lost.
Each relationship, when it ends,
damages me. I haven't fully recovered.
That's why I'm very careful with getting involved, because... It hurts too much!
Even getting laid! I actually don't do that...
I will miss of the person, the most mundane things.
Like I'm obsessed with little things.
Maybe I'm crazy, but...
When I was a little girl, my mom told me that I was always late to school.
One day she followed me to see why.
I was looking at
chestnuts falling from the trees,
rolling on the sidewalk, or...
ants, crossing the road...
the way a leaf casts a shadow on a tree trunk...
Little things.
I think it's the same with people.
I see in them little details,
so specific to each other,
that move me,
and that I miss, and...
will always miss.
You can never replace anyone,
because everyone is made of such beautiful specific details.

Samuli Edelmann - (Sinä olet) Aurinko
Käännä väsyneet kasvoni sinuun ja jaksan taas.
Sinä valutat voimasi minuun niin kuin nukkuvaan.
Se saa silmäni auki ja jalkani nousemaan.
Sinä valutat voimasi minuun niin kuin nukkuvaan.
Se saa silmäni auki ja jalkani nousemaan.
I booked flights today!
6th of March, I will fly to Münster-Osnabrück. Then start my journey around the upper Germany. End it at Berlin and fly on 17th of March back to Milano. Then, I will go visit hoooome! Will come to Finland on 28th of April and leave on 7th. On 4th I will go to a student cruise of my university!! And the best part possible after seeing all my family and friends is that a friend from here, Hanna, is maybe joining me to my finnish tour :)
Weeee! I'm happy!

I finally have a tandem partner!! Tandem learning is that two natives - or like native speakers meet and just talk about something changing languages. So my tandem partner is a native italian and I talk english almost like a native. We talk half of the time in italian and half in english. Alessandro is such a nice guy! He's from Verona originally and half Polish like many people here.

My camera is broken :( It got to a zoom error while I was in Venice for the carnival. I feel incredibly empty without the possibility to take pictures. Maybe I'll appreciate it more after this. Anyway, I hope the fixing process will not take too long. I want my camera back for the Germany trip at the latest! Let's see now...
But why now :( It's such a nice weather here and everything... :'(
I took some pictures today with my cell phone, so you can get even a part of the joy of sunshine. I mean, I didn't wear a coat for over 30mins today while lying in the sunshine :)

7 days!
If you live 100 years, I want to live 100 years minus one day so I don't have to live without you.
Winnie The Pooh
Almost Valentine's day! (In Finland friends day).
Something I've kept up for my roommates, everyday before Valentine's day :)

Yesterday I got that balloon while Giada, Marica and I were walking around in the center :)

Today... your my sunshine, my only sunshine,
you make me HAPPY when the sky is greey!
you make me HAPPY when the sky is greey!

How to dress here in February! What about Finland, eh?

We went today to the newest Mensa (school cafeteria) and the food was like a restaurant. I've heard that they even use the same kitchen with a near-by restaurant, so... :)

My bike was broken today. I got it to repair after walking 40mins to the center from the Mensa. The guy working there remembered me from 4 months ago! Probably because of my bad italian. I realized how little I had improved compared to many others... but also decided to make it better. After having the first meeting with Alessandro and talking in italian for most of the time anyway, it was much better :) I think I took the first step to talking late, but still at a natural time. Now the first step is done and better is to come!
Anyway, he fixed Diana (yes, I've named my bike) for only 5 euros :) Nooot bad!

Kun puhun ihmisille kuten Dino, he saavat minut tuntemaan itseni eläväksi.
Inspiroiduin ottamaan asiasta selvää kun näin Bedford Diariesin jakson The Passion of the Beaver (nähtävissä youtubessa).
Being defeated is only a temporary condition; giving up is what makes it permanent.

What is a Passion? It can be an object, person or something fictional like memories, fables, plans or an activity. These things become a passion if one likes it very much even so much that he can do it all day long. He probably will loose the sense of time and won't regret spending hours, days or even more time following his passion. You still don't have to do it all the time and spend all your time in it. Another sign for a passion is that he may develop feelings for it.
A passion can be for a part of a person. Abstract or concrete. Passion is something particular. Passion is a carrot, something that makes life worth living.
There is not necessarily difference between passion and love. But generally passion is more selfish. In passion one will try to avoid dealing with bad sides. In love it doesn't matter if there is bad sides. Which one, passion or love, comes first depends on the person. Love can be stronger where passion can be pushed back. Passion is a need and you can put them in order saying which of them is most needed. Both passion and love can have an end, because of an impact.

History of the non-fiction film,
I found a good description for this blog which according to me fits perfectly though it talks about a history book of documentary film written by Boleslaw Matuszewski (A New Source of History):
“He recognized that history does not always happen where one waits for it, and that effects are easier to find and photograph than causes.”
I write about and photograph effects, mainly.

Ne kävi täällä <3
Iskä, äiti ja Jussi oli täällä. Autoiltiin ympäriinsä vaikka missä. Käytiin kattelemassa hiukan harmaita maisemia Eugenian kukkuloilla, jossa oli paljon viinitarhoja ja illalla sitte juotiin näiden kukkuloiden viintäkin melkein epähuomiossa. Käytiin Trevisossa päivän verran. Vietettiin jotain päiviä vaan Padovan ankeudessa.
Huomasin kaks juttua erityisesti.
Juttu 1.
(Laura)

Magic in this world,
If there's any kind of magic in this world, it must be in the attempt of understanding someone, sharing something. I know, it's almost impossible to succeed, but…who cares, really? The answer must be in the attempt.

Being an optimist,
Background: Jacek is a polish boy who was also last spring (2007) in exchange in my University in Finland.
Jacko: I thought that You are happy girl
Jacko: without problems
So did I.
A bit later talking about finishing his studies:
Jacko: i have to do a lot of stuff. it ll be different but maybe even better.
Jacko: work can be nice
Milla: you are really being optimistic :)
Jacko: I have to be if not I won't have enough energy
Milla: but optimism is always very good
Milla: makes life more enjoyable
Jacko: more easy
Jacko: I hope that allways I ll have such a way of living
Jacko: lets see it won't be easy
Definitely not. I'm surely an optimist and all the time here, I'm waiting for the better time to come. Now I'm waiting for the storm to calm down and the sun coming out. What is different here is that I never waited back home, I made the storm calm down for myself and I made my living happy. Of course it's easier to do when you have all the right people around you. The people that you really click with and it is not easy to get there. Moving to Vantaa, it took something between a half a year and a year to get to the people. But still, I can do it to myself. At least for a small while... everyday or at least every other.

I lolled.
Background info: Dino is a half italian and half german boy, who was in exchange in my University in Finland.
Dino says:
so you have problems with italian guys...
Dino says:
let's solve it
Milla says:
and how? you know i've changed my look already, so it SHOULD GO BETTER! what's wrong with these guys :P
Dino says:
a lot
Milla says:
starting with?
Dino says:
so, first they have only their mom in mind
Dino says:
but you already experienced this problem
Dino says:
we can't solve that
Milla says:
yes, that's a neverending problem
Dino says:
hehe
Milla says:
next?
Dino says:
so, they have a lot of things in their mind. the first thing is usually not the girl which is standing next to them
Dino says:
that is not because they don't like them or something, it's just the way they look in to the world
Dino says:
they can look very far, but in a radius of 10m they are blind
Milla says:
haha :D that is so true!
Dino says:
luckely I don't have the first problem, but this problem is even something which impacted my life very hard because I can only see if it is too late, when I can look far back
Dino says:
Italian boys are concentrated on a few things
Dino says:
the mom (not my point), their friends, calcio*, maybe computer games, women in general (excluding the girls next to them) and the car/motorino
Dino says:
if you want to have attention just speak with them about one of this topics, excluding the mom of course (she is holy)
Dino says:
then you will have your well deserved attention
Dino says:
you see: italian guys = very easy
HAH, I say :D
* football
Talk continues:
Milla says:
what does women in general exactly mean? so far my experience on italian men is very bad. they either don't notice you at all or they think you are really easy and come way too close way too quick.
Dino says:
that's right
Dino says:
in this point a lot of italians think they are tough guys, but they are very weak...
Milla says:
so the question is... how the hell do they find the girls, because they seem to have a big problem finding the great ones :)
Dino says:
usually they don't want to have a relationship
Dino says:
first they are trying to strike very fast, if they think they can but if they see it is not possible they will be more careful
Dino says:
then they fall in love and they are changing completly and are getting very weak
Dino says:
you will notice that the girl is everytime the more powerful part in a realationship. Am I right?

Kerro jotain... Tiiän et sul on tieto/tapahtumaähky :D
Milla: on tosiaan. en ees osaa jäsentää oikeen kaikkea.
Suvi: Hihi.
Ivo: Hey beautiful. How's you then?
Milla: Hey handsome. I'm good. Just woke up :) How are you?
Ivo: Hmmm, lovely.
Ivo: I'm not bad m'self, been up a while longer, but I've just come back from grocery shopping. :)
Ivo: So, did you wake up next to a tall, dark, and handsome Italian? ;)
Milla: naah, i'm a bit amazed but i haven't seen but only one truly goodlooking man here.
Ivo: Just the one? Tell me, was he as good-looking as I am?
Milla: of course not!
Ivo: See? Y'should've just come over here, 'stead of goin' all the way to Italy. Dutch guys ftw! :)
Milla: Yeah, seems so! I'm a bit dissapointed, I came here for italian gorgeousness :P
Ivo: Did you? And here I thought it was all about culture, and language, and stuff like that. Are you at least getting some of that, then?
Milla: yeah, a lot and it makes me really exhausted everyday. by the end of the day, i'm totally woren out.
Ivo: Well that's good. See, you wouldn't even have time for Italian guys, so maybe it's a good thing they're a disappointment. ;)
Milla: :D eventually, that won't be the case... unless i become a lesbian.
Ivo: Ah, so you are planning on seducing that one interesting subject?
Milla: meaning the one gorgeous guy?
Ivo: Yes?
Milla: no, he's girlfriend was sitting in his lap in the bus :P
Ivo: My dear, dear girl, you forget that you have something very rare and valuable in Italy.
Ivo: You're a blonde.
Milla: Seems like it's not as big of a deal as I was told.
Ivo: Really? I know I've never been there, but I was under the impression that few, if any, Italian women have blonde hair.
Milla: that is true, but the men don't seem to care so much for blondes.
Ivo: Well, I must admit that I'm not all that partial to a particular hair color myself... Although I do have this thing for redheads, I dunno why.
Ivo: so you're saying, Italian guys don't go for you due to your luscious blonde locks? (Not that they should, anyway, they should do it for your sparkling personality.)

Email from Anna,
Lyhyesti suomeksi
Here's parts of it:
Moi Milla!!
Yes, I've taught her finnish already.
I have to tell you one marvellous new: Franca (the landlord) will buy the washing machine ---
WOHOO!
So, we’ll have to buy only the hooven and the microwave, we’ll spend only 25 euro per girl.
We’ll go to the appliance shop and we’ll buy these two things together(you, me, Marica and Giada).
YEAAHH! 25 euros instead of over 50 is just awesome!
I’ll go to Venezia and I’ll meet you there, so I’ll help you with the bags and we’ll go to Padova together!
Can you find anymore helpful and sweeter girl? I bet not. I'm so lucky!
I’m going to move to Padova on the day after tomorrow, I’ll carry all my stuff to the house and I’ll order and clean the flat for your arriving!
SEE!
I have to underline you that there isn’t yet the internet connection in the house(I’ll phone to Telecom Italia at the end of the week for asking the connection), so we’ll communicate only with the mobile when I’ll be at Padova.
Just for you to know, but I'll try to find an internet cafe to keep you informed :) Or that I can be informed what happens there!

Probably I have found out a bicycle for you: the boys who left the house have left in the garage some bicycles, we have to check if there is a bicycle that is usable. They told me that we can hold the bicycles that we need!!
OI!!! Again another minus cost!
The payment will be…a dinner for them in our house!!! There is always a price to pay!! ;-P They are 3 nice boys, we’ll have a funny dinner!
Getting even better! I'm so happy about this, I get to meet people straight away!

Lyhyesti suomeksi:

Muumilaakson marraskuu by Tove Jansson

16 days in Finland, 9 days at Vantaa.
Everything is happening so/too quickly. I hate the fact that I have to leave these people behind to get something new. Especially, I hate the thought of the situation at the airport. And not seeing my family in several months.
I cannot go home to calm down when I feel like breaking down.
But you can't have all, right?
I cannot go home to calm down when I feel like breaking down.
But you can't have all, right?
So let go, jump in
Oh now, what cha waiting for
It's alright cause there's beauty in the breakdown
So let go, just get in
Oh, it's so amazing here
It's alright cause there's beauty in the breakdown
Frou Frou - Let Go

Today I caught myself smiling again at something happened during the last few days. Yesterday, I met Tarja to get some of her leftover boxes. During a conversation while we were sitting in her house, she said something like: "But surely you will get lots of friends in Italy." I'm sure of that, but just now I'm realizing how many great friends I have here. Siru and I talked just a while ago about the friends we had in high school. Neither of us, feel we have anything in common with them anymore. There is only very few people who I've managed to stay closer friends with. Sometimes when I see some of the highschool friends in Turku and I keep thinking how did I ever managed to be their friend. We had absolutely nothing in common (except for school). There is still few great friends I've kept from Raisio/Turku.
The Wednesday that I spent in Raisio was Jussi's birthday party. I was doing some stuff in the internet and writing to my blog as I didn't have much to do during the day. Katri commented on an entry and we chatted shortly there. 10 minutes after that she was at our door (it was about 1 or 2pm) and she left at 9pm that evening.
At the Stockholm cruise, I had a great discussion with Suvi about school motivation.
Before Laura left to Korea, I went to see her and we talked about how some people can just start from where they were left, when they meet again. I like that thought. It's just human to not always have the energy to see and talk to everyone. Time and energy sources are limited. (Of course, there's sometimes also laziness included.)
I called Siru just yesterday for nothing special at all. We chatted for a while and I ended up smiling by myself in the train. Then Miika sent me a message saying something like hi for no good reason!
Today I sent mom an email about all the money arrangements and such. She sent me something back very shortly and in the end she wrote: "I miss you". Instant smile on my face.
Laura is lending me her storage space for a full year. I'm worried to use her space, because I'm sure she would use it herself too. I'm so grateful of it since this way we don't have to take all my stuff to Raisio (and then back again the next year).
Then there's Yolanda dancing with me with full speed. Julio dancing salsa and his nice voice. Remon: "We've discussed it with Frank that you're a kulta! That means a sweetheart, right?" Going to Mental Wear shop with Kimmo and Siru. Robert trying to make me smile during my horrible sleepy-day and trying to manage at the same time teach foreigners finnish. And Iain with his scottish accent and sense of humour.
"naaa no limits but u wouldnt understand and be able 2 cope as well as i can with finnish :p"
"come on. when you get wrecked, i pull asses. and you say i couldn't cope with what exactly?"
"Lol wait if i get wrecked ul pull an ass?"
It's good to leave for knowing that
I cannot remember many days of unhappiness.
23 days until leaving the country. 16 days until I move away from Vantaa.

Vapauden huuma (Petri Tamminen)
"Hurjimmalta tuntuu rikkoa arkisimmat tottumukset - nukkua yö täysissä pukeissa, herätä varhain ja lähteä ulos niine hyvineen, syömättä, pesemättä ja hampaita harjaamatta. Kaupunki näyttää uudelta ja kansainväliseltä. Vapaus pakahduttaa.
Hurmoksellinen, ilmestyksenä koettu vapaus on lupaus paremmasta elämästä. Se käynnistää ketjureaktion. Tottumukset rapisevat, vanhat salaisuudet ja valheet raukeavat. --"
